Q) How long does this coverage last?
Coverage commences the day the application is received by HED and continues to September 30, 2008.

Q) Is my child covered for sports/field trips?
Yes. The student is covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week no matter if he is playing hockey or watching TV.

Q) Which is the best coverage?
The best coverage is the Super Plan Plus as it offers a total and permanent disability package and the student can travel outside of the country and be covered for up to 30 days.

Q) Which is the most common plan people get?
There really is no common plan - people have different reasons for different plans. It can depend on whether or not they have a private plan and what it covers and also what types of activities their child is involved with (i.e. hockey or band practice).

Q) If I don't want to apply online, where should I send my application to?
The application is sent to HED Insurance and Risk Services for processing. HED’s address is:

Only if there is also bodily injury and you seek medical attention and their glasses broke as a result of the injury.

Q) How and when should an accident be reported?
An accident must be reported within 60 days of the accident. Individuals can call Reliable Life at 1-800-463-5437. The accident report can be done on the phone. Reliable Life handles all claims.

Q) Coordination of benefits? Who pays first?
The primary payer is your Provincial health insurance plan. Next would be the parents' Group Employee Benefits coverage (if they have coverage) or any other Benefits Insurance available. Reliable Life benefits are payable after exhausting any other coverages with any other insurance company.

Q) If a child is being home-schooled, can they be covered under the Student Accident Program?
Yes, however, the curriculum must be approved by the school board or Minister (Admin.) of Education.

Q) Once premium payment is made, does HED send a policy with a confirmation of coverage?
In order to allow for a preview of the coverages of our plans, HED has made the policy available to be printed online. No further confirmation is sent. Your credit card statement or your cancelled cheque is your proof that coverage is in place for your child or children.

Note: If a student applies for the Super Plan Plus for out of country, the maximum duration of coverage for any one trip or tour is 30 days.
